The short version. Score That Play stores the games you score. It asks for an email address only if you decide you want to keep them. There is no tracking, no advertising, and no third-party analytics, and you can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app.

What is collected

Game data. The games you score: teams, players you name, the play-by-play log, and the statistics worked out from it. This is the point of the app, and it is tied to your account so that it is still there next time.

An email address and password — only if you choose. A fresh install scores its first game without an account: the app creates one on the device, with a generated address nobody can reach, so you can start keeping score without signing up for anything. If you later want your games to survive a lost phone, you add a real email address and a password, and that account becomes a normal one.

Nothing else. No contacts, no location, no photos, no device identifiers for advertising, no behavioural profile.

What is not done with it

  • It is not sold, rented, or shared with advertisers.
  • There is no advertising in the app.
  • There are no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
  • You are not tracked across other apps or websites.

Who can see a game you share

Sharing a game produces a link, and anyone holding that link can watch the game without an account. The watch view is read-only and shows the game rather than the people: it carries the plays, the line score and the box score, and deliberately does not say who recorded anything or include the code used to join as a scorekeeper. The link stops working as soon as the game is deleted or sharing is turned off.

A link is unguessable, but it is not a password. Treat it the way you would treat any link you send in a message: anyone you give it to can pass it on.

Email

The only email the app sends is a password reset, and only when you ask for one. It is sent through an email delivery provider acting on our behalf. There is no newsletter and no marketing email.

Children

The app is for scorekeepers, and it is often youth sport being scored. Players named in a lineup are not users of the app and have no account — a name in a batting order is entered by the person keeping the book. The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect accounts from them.

Deleting everything

Settings has an account deletion option, and it removes the account along with the games belonging to it. It works for a device-bound guest account too, which is the only way to remove one — a guest account cannot be logged out of, because its credentials live on the device and nothing else can reach it.

Where it is stored

Game data is held in a database on servers operated on our behalf, reached over encrypted connections. Passwords are stored hashed, never in a form anyone can read back.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date at the top changes with it.
